Royal residence cup - first international festival in Zhovkva
17.06.2010 20:41

“Royal residence cup” takes place in period of 8-16 June. “A” and “B” tournaments take place. A tournament is IM round robin for 10 players with 4 countries represented (Sweden, France, Slovakia and Ukraine). I apologize to our readers as we were advertising 5 countries previously, but Peter Letov from Russia finally refused to play that made us to find new player - Vladimira Meleshko. “B” tournament is round robin for 10 players organized for local players. Here is the players list of “A” tournament:

You can download regulations for “A” tournament here.

So our tournament came to the end. 9th round had only formal sense to some players, so no wonder 2 games  ended with quick draws: Paci – Shkuran and Genzling – Semcesen. Third and last draw in this round was game Vetoshko – Molnar. This game was really interesting one nevertheless it became draw just after passing the zeitnot. There were also two wins in the round: Bernadskiy overplayed Meleshko with black and Chulivska won against Podolsky with white. But if first game had limited interest then the second one was a real thriller. Podolsky sacrificed almostly all pieces  he had but instead Vita’s king had to visit the centre. The most exciting thing is that king survived easily, and soon Anton had to resign. Vita won at last, that makes it easier to forget lots of lost rating points.

But it’s not the  point. Point is tournament took place! Yes there were some little mistakes in organization but almostly all got satisfied! And it means that it’s not so hard thing to organize at least one tournament for our young talented players. So let’s work together! Also I will publish the most interesting moments of our tournament soon.

You can download games just at moment! Now you can find photos here and in my photogallery!

Now you  can find main links about our tournament over internet: general report about the opening ceremony and tournament at all you can find here (in Ukrainian); interviews with organizers can be found here (in Ukrainian); if you are fan of our french guests you have to visit this; if you are fan of Daniel Semcesen and like Sweden at all visit this (in Swedish)
